Press Release by NYIT 2012 Cyber Security Conference

On September 20, 2012 at the NYIT 2012 Cyber Security Conference, Information Technology expert and author, Raj Goel, will present “Social Media and Cloud Computing Threats to Privacy, Security, and Liberty.”

The conference will be held at NYIT in Old Westbury, New York with keynote speakers including Marisa S. Viveros, the Vice President of Cyber Security Innovation at IBM, and Neal Ziring, the Technical Director of Information Assurance Directorate at the National Security Agency. Along with social media and cloud security, the conference will cover topics from cyber threats, sense making in security and network operation centers, and the impacts of technology in the globalization era.

Goel’s highly praised presentation will focus on the impact that social media and cloud computing has on the communication of children, employees, and colleagues. Because social media has become a part of everyday life, there are problems with privacy and security that have arisen. With the use of case studies from around the world, Goel examined the negative effects of social media including losing jobs, college admissions, college degrees, fortunes, and freedom. By warning the public about these effects, Goel continued his presentation with strategies and steps to protect privacy and civil liberties in this time when social media has a huge impact on people’s lives.
