The Book of Sunder

A Goddess Thou Art

.

------------------------

.

In times of present and of lore

men to their knees have fallen

to praise their gods and more

to do honor to gold idols stolen

.

But to my soul and heart there is one truth

that brings me joy and happiness

above all things that can my heart soothe

enchanting me with all your charms and tenderness

.

That eternal wonderful joy and bliss

thou art the light that guides my life

for in your arms is heavenly bliss

.

I dread the day that we should part

for without you life would be misery unbound

To live without you would more than tear my heart

that would be death truly found

.

But for you I live each day so bright

and the very goddess of joy in you I see

renewing my life with rapture and delight

.

When in my arms I hold you close

I needn't seek to find the gates of paradise

or life's own eternal red ruby rose

for in my arms you are paradise in disguise

.

The more I feel and see your love for me

the more I flourish and grow in bliss and in ecstacy

thou art the sunlight that brings hope to me

.

And when in your eyes my reflection I see

that wonderous changed new form of me

I know you have made me as glorious as thee

through your sweet love and care,

a god you've made of me so fair

.

When in my arms I find thee

I need no drug nor gold nor wine

to find paradise away from agony

And I pray to thee oh goddess of mine

to share your sweet life with me

and live in joy with me

for that which men call eternity

.
