New York, October 2 - Thaumaturgix Inc. and Brainlink International today announced they will be hosting a benefit on October 18th to raise money for the Silver Shield Foundation (www.silvershieldfoundation.org) to aid the families of firefighters, police officers and other law enforcement employees who perished in the WTC attacks. The event, dubbed NY Tech Support: Networking for the Uncommon Good, will bring together computer and technology professionals for an evening of networking, hors d'oeuvres, and cocktails on Thaumaturgix's rooftop deck in midtown Manhattan. "While we all continue to mourn and work together to help those affected by the WTC tragedy, it is also important that we celebrate the strength and beauty of New York City, which is why we chose to use the deck with its extraordinary view of midtown Manhattan for this event," said Peter Dolch, President of Thaumaturgix, adding "this has been both a very sad and very busy time for technology professionals, and this event will be one of the first opportunities many of us have had since September 11 to see each other face to face and start planning for the future." "We chose the Silver Shield Foundation," said Raj Goel, CTO of Brainlink International, "because we wanted to honor the heroes of the WTC. Their sacrifices have truly inspired this city in such a difficult time. Additionally, the Silver Shield Foundation is now facing a financial need seven times greater than they were originally set up to meet. As we look to the future of New York as technologists, we thought it also important to address the future of New York as it exists in the families and children of those lost." Tickets for the event are $75 in advance and $100 at the door and of course additional contributions to the Silver Shield Foundation are welcome. 100% of the ticket price will be donated to the Silver Shield Foundation, and all donations and tickets are tax deductible as allowed by law.
